Lorraine Lucas will be performing a live lunchtime set at Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, as part of City of London's Women:Work and Power festival, and the Mayor of London's Sounds Like London music month.
Lorraine Lucas is a singer, songwriter, musician and composer who draws inspiration from her observations of the world and the human condition in all it's magnificence and frailty. An avid and respected songwriter she has studied under the tutelage of Boo Hewerdine, Darden Smith, Findlay Napier, Dr Dave Hook and also runs her own songwriting workshops as well as curator of Folkestone's Songwriting Festival.
She has shared the stage with amongst others Paul Clifford ( Be Good Tanyas), Michael Ward-Bergeman ( St Louis Symphony Orchestra) Dean Owens, Michael Messer, Robbie McIntosh ( Sir Paul McCartney/The Pretenders) Bruce MacGregor ( Blazing Fiddles) Paul Fitzgerald ( The Coal Porters) and has performed at music festivals and concerts across Europe and will be touring extensively this year.
Her album Messenger will be released in May and was produced by Tali Trow who has worked with John Murry Bon Weir and plays a range of instruments on the project and involves members of her band The Troubled Family Unit who will be making guest appearances at the launch.
Messenger does not fall into a specific genre rather it transgresses early American folk and blues to contemporary progressive folk with the flavours of Flamenco, Jazz and blues brought from the carefully selected session musicians and was mastered at Tile Sudio in Uxbridge home of Mike Oldfield by his son the equally earful Luke Oldfield
