Croydon (Croydon Creatives)
Croydon’s Creative Enterprise Zone is nurturing the growing creative cluster in the town centre as well as developing the borough’s reputation as a music city. A place that encourages and nurtures emerging talent and breaks down barriers to success in the music industry. It has launched an ambitious new cultural internship programme offering young people paid work placements (at London Living Wage) with leading national and local arts organisations. It has also delivered a subsidy scheme of artist workspace, covering up to 40 per cent of workspace costs for young people.
The Croydon Zone has also partnered with The BRIT School to offer a virtual Creative Careers Roadshow in local secondary schools, raising awareness of creative careers with diverse groups. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Croydon Zone pivoted delivery to support creative businesses through their Cultural Relief and Creative Practitioners Support funds.
