Donald Shek
Donald Shek is an artist based in London, he incorporates the architectural elements into his artwork and mixes a variety of mediums that include screenprinting, drawing, and etching. More recently the architectural landscapes have developed into hybrid third spaces with the use of augmented reality technology. He was commissioned by Chinese Arts Now as part of the CAN Festival 2019 which saw the completion of Augmented Chinatown, an augmented reality tour in London’s Chinatown that explored ideas of identity, cultural symbolism, and mythology. This digital strand of work has developed further after completing a residency at CFCCA in Manchester and completing a large production with CAN to complete Augmented Chinatown 2.0 that built upon the previous commission combining immersive AR worlds with music and drama exploring the layered history of London Chinatown.
