Site Visit:

Thursday 13 February 2014 - Croydon

Members of the Regeneration Committee will be visiting Croydon to examine how the Mayor’s Regeneration Fund has been used for economic, physical and social regeneration. In particular the Committee will see how the funding has been used for physical improvements in areas in the borough which were damaged during the 2011 London Riots. Media are welcome to attend.

The Housing Committee will consider how welfare reforms are having an impact on London’s housing sector and the Mayor’s housing priorities.

The Met’s approach to Safeguarding children and young people

Safeguarding Working Group – 10am in The Chamber

The working group will be examining the Met’s approach to safeguarding children and young people, assess the level of resources available to tackle child abuse and evaluate the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime’s strategic oversight.

The Committee will question the following guests:

Mayor’s support for academies and free schools

Education Panel – 3pm in The Chamber

The Education Panel will be examining the Mayor’s support for academies and free schools and discussing how different types of schools are coping with the demand for school places.

The Committee will question the following guests:

Final Draft Budget

Assembly Members will put questions to the Mayor about his Final Draft Consolidated Budget 2014-15 for the GLA group, including the budgets for the Metropolitan Police Service, Transport for London, London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and the London Legacy Development Corporation.
