The state and future of TfL’s finances

Transport for London (TfL) lost 75 per cent of its anticipated passenger income in the first half of 2020-21, due to COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, Government and TfL have agreed three extraordinary funding and financing agreements totalling over £4 billion.

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Transport Committee with ask questions about the current state and future of TfL’s finances. The meeting aims to:

  • Investigate the latest funding deal
  • Consider the conditions attached to the Government’s financial settlements
  • Explore TfL’s options for meeting the conditions of the funding package
  • Investigate TfL’s future funding requirements
  • Explore TfL’s options for achieving long-term financial sustainability

The guests are:

  • Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor for Transport, GLA
  • Patrick Doig – Divisional Finance Director, Surface Transport, TfL
  • Vernon Everitt – Managing Director, Customers, Communication and Technology, TfL
  • Professor Stephen Glaister, Imperial College, co-author of the 2020 TfL Independent Review

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 30 June 2021 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
