Performance of the Met in the spotlight

Where is the Met succeeding and where is it failing?

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will tomorrow examine the findings of recent investigations into the performance of the Met by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) and question the following guests:

  • Stephen Greenhalgh, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime (MOPAC),
  • Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe QPM, Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Service
  • Craig Mackey QPM, Deputy Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Service.

Areas include:

  • Misconduct and unprofessional behaviour
  • The quality of Met investigations
  • Data integrity and crime recording
  • Treatment of those in custody

Guests will also be questioned on the following topics:

  • The Hatton Garden burglary
  • Latest violent crime figures in London
  • MOPAC/MPS finances
  • London Crime Prevention Fund
  • Tower Hamlets election fraud

The meeting will take place on Thursday 21 May from 2.30pm in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
