The 2020-21 Budget Review – GLA Core

The Mayor of London has said that the Greater London Authority (GLA) is facing a budget shortfall of up to £493 million over the next two years. The Mayor’s overall budget for 2020-21 is £18.5 billion.



The Budget and Performance Committee will discuss the immediate financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) budget. The guests are:

The Impact of COVID-19 School Closures on Education Inequality in London

The Education Panel will look at the impact of closing schools because of COVID-19 on London’s children and young people. Emerging research makes it clear that not all young people have been impacted equally by the school closures. The guests are:

The 2020-21 Budget Review – Transport for London

Budget and Performance Committee – 10:00am

COVID-19 has led to a significant reduction in passengers using Tubes and buses. TfL is heavily reliant on passenger income to fund its operations. The Government agreed a £1.6 billion funding package to allow TfL to continue to run its services until October 2020.



The Budget and Performance Committee will discuss the immediate financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Transport for London’s finances. The guests are:

  • Andy Byford, Commissioner, Transport for London (TfL)
  • Simon Kilonback, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), TfL
  • Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor for Transport
  • David Gallie, Executive Director, Resources, GLA
