The Mayor’s last City Hall budget

The current Mayor will set a budget for the period from April 2016 to March 2017, but he will only remain in office for the first month of those 12 months. What spending priorities will his successor have to deal with?

The London Assembly tomorrow will examine the Draft GLA budget for 2016-17.[1] Questions include:

  • What could the outcome of the Chancellor’s Spending Review next week mean for GLA regeneration projects?
  • What key decisions have been taken so far about the core GLA’s budget of almost £1 billion in 2016-17?
  • How are discussions regarding full devolution of business rates to London progressing?

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will tomorrowexplore these areas with the following guests from the Mayor’s senior team:

  • Sir Edward Lister, Mayor’s Chief of Staff, GLA
  • Jeff Jacobs, Head of Paid Service and Executive Director of Communities and Intelligence, GLA
  • Martin Clarke, Executive Director of Resources, GLA
  • iona Fletcher-Smith, Executive Director of Development, Enterprise and Environment, GLA
  • David Lunts, Executive Director of Housing and Land, GLA
  • Will Walden, Director of Communications and External Affairs, GLA.

The meeting will take place tomorrow, Thursday 19 November from 10:00am in Committee Room 5, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
