Summary of petition
"We the undersigned object to the use of Cremorne Gardens, in whole or in part, as a construction site for the Thames Water Tideway Project. Our park is much used and loved by local residents and visitors and we believe it is an unsuitable location for such a project. Thames Water should investigate and pursue the possible alternatives, including the use of a river-based rig and/or the use of vacant land in the vicinity of the gardens. We urge the Mayor and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to join forces and insist Thames Water find a solution which is more acceptable to residents."

“I realise that the construction of this large-scale piece of infrastructure will cause concern for Londoners, and no doubt it will have impacts. However, I remain convinced that it is essential to provide this additional capacity to our sewer system in order to ensure that the Thames continues to be a great asset to London.
I note that the petition has been raised prior to the publication of Thames Water's preferred option. Having looked at the preferred option published on 13 September, it appears that the majority of work proposed at this site will take place on the foreshore of the Thames with an access route from Lots Road being immediately adjacent to Cremorne Gardens or taking some of the south western edge of the gardens.
I encourage Ms McKeown and indeed all Londoners interested in this project to examine the Thames Water proposals and make your views known during the consultation period by responding to the consultation.
