Carry on, postpone or cancel? The impact of Coronavirus on London.

Crowd
Created on
10 March 2020

How well equipped is London in dealing with a potential pandemic? With NHS resources already stretched, how will the NHS cope with an influx of patients?

Will major sporting events, like Euro 2020 need to be cancelled? What impact will there be on the upcoming Mayoral and London Assembly elections in May?

If the situation escalates further, what will the impact be on the emergency services, including police and the fire and rescue service, if there is a significant loss of staff?

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Health Committee will discuss the state of the coronavirus risk in London and how London can best prepare for further spread of the virus.

The guests are:

  • Professor Paul Plant, Interim Statutory Health Director to the Mayor
  • Dr Deborah Turbitt, Deputy Director for Health Protection, London
  • Dr Fiona Twycross AM, Deputy Mayor for Fire and Resilience
  • John Hetherington, Head of London Resilience
  • Dr Vin Diwakar, Regional Medical Director, NHS England

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 11 March at 10:00am in The Chamber, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or YouTube
