FOI - Garden Bridge Costs & Margaret Hodge MP Review

Key information

Request reference number: 9596

Date of response:

Summary of request

1. Your website puts the total cost at 185 million, with a public contribution of 60 million. Given that construction work has not yet started, how is it that the public's share of the spend to date is almost 40 million rather than, at most, 13 million. It appears that the public purse has met the entire cost of the design work, planning permissions etc, whilst the private backers have kept their wallets firmly shut.

2. Your website informs readers that Margaret Hodge MP is to conduct a review. Do the review's terms of reference include ascertaining whether the previous Mayor and Council Officers have acted entirely properly, and always within their powers, in allocating this huge sum of public money? If any of them have transgressed, will action be taken against them?
