Who we are
Staff and volunteers at Tottenham Foodbank come together to discuss the profound impact of their work on their local community and themselves.
They highlight how their efforts provide vital support to those facing food insecurity, offering not just sustenance but also dignity and hope.
Empowering communities and teams
Tottenham Foodbank, established in 2019, serves as a vital resource for numerous families grappling with food insecurity in Tottenham, Haringey, and beyond.
Our mission transcends mere distribution of emergency food parcels; we aim to provide comprehensive assistance to those in need. While physically located in Tottenham, our outreach extends far beyond, reaching individuals and families across the North London region.
Central to our operations is a dedicated team of volunteers who generously contribute their time and effort to fulfil our mission. Their unwavering commitment forms and cornerstone of our organisation, empowering us to effectively serve our community. Additionally, the support from individuals and businesses who generously donate to us is indispensable, sustaining our efforts and enabling us to continue our work.
In this film, the team reflects on the personal fulfilment they derive from their roles, emphasising the sense of purpose and connection that comes from helping others in need. Overall, their collective efforts serve as a beacon of support compassion and resilience within Tottenham.

What our work means to people
The work of Tottenham Foodbank exemplifies civic strength through its active engagement of volunteers and staff in addressing food insecurity within the community.
By bringing together diverse individuals and groups around a shared mission, the organisation fosters social cohesion and empowers participants to make meaningful connections to their neighbourhoods.
Through its provision of not only food aid but also additional services, Tottenham Foodbank helps build resilience and promotes personal growth among both recipients and volunteers, contributing to a stronger, more connected community overall.
The changes we would like to see
As a result of Tottenham Foodbank's impactful work, we would advocate for policy changes at both local and national levels to address the root causes of food insecurity.
Locally, we would push for increased funding and resources for community-based initiatives aimed at tackling poverty, such as job training programs, affordable housing initiatives, and support services for low-income families.
Nationally, we would advocate for policies that prioritise income equality, social safety nets, and access to affordable healthcare and education.
Additionally, we would work to raise awareness about the importance of addressing food insecurity as a systemic issue, rather than relying solely on emergency food aid.
One concrete change we would like to see is the implementation of policies that ensure a living wage for all, enabling individuals and families to meet their basic needs without relying on food banks for assistance.
