Summary of request

Your request

A list of all the estate regeneration ballots that have been carried out under the Mayor's policy introduced in 2018. For each ballot, please can you provide:

1. The name of the estate and the borough it is within.

2. How many people who were registered to vote, cast a vote in the ballot (please identify the different tenure of those completing the ballot as per 8.4.2 outlined in the GLA funding guide).

3. What was the outcome of the ballot, how many people voted yes, and how many people voted no?

4. The costs incurred by the respective Council, Housing Association or provider relating to any services used to manage and deliver the resident ballot.

5. The independent body contracted to hold the ballot.

Our response

Where the resident ballot requirement applies (estate regeneration projects that involve the demolition of any social homes and the construction of 150 or more homes (of any tenure), GLA Investment Partners, such as local authorities and housing associations, must notify the GLA about the results of positive ballots (those where residents voted in favour of regeneration) before claiming funding from the GLA.

As such we do not have records of where a negative result arose. Where the results were positive, we publish the following details:

• estate or project name
• name of GLA Investment Partner or landlord
• date the ballot period closed
• name of the independent body.

However, the GLA does not collect data on how many people were registered to vote, cast a vote in the ballot nor on the tenure of voters.

Where the outcome of the vote was positive, we do not ask for number of attendance or votes, only that a simply majority 'yes' vote was obtained.

We do not request data on costs incurred by the respective Council, Housing Association or provider relating to any services used to manage and deliver the resident ballot.

For more information about what is requested, please see section 8.5.19 in the GLA Capital Funding Guide.
