Our response is as follows:

The GLA is London's strategic government and does not operate in the same way as local
Borough Councils who are responsible for most public facilities in the capital. However, we do have a limited number of facilities.

The GLA currently maintains two facilities as at June 2021:

One facility at Trafalgar Square (3 men’s cubicles + urinals, 9 women’s cubicles, 2
disabled facilities (one by each male and female section), baby change facilities – 1 in
each male/female section)

One facility at Thames Barrier Park (4 cubicles, 3 urinals, a baby change and disabled
toilet).
a. April 2015 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities
b. April 2016 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities
c. April 2017 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities
d. April 2018 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities
e. April 2019 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities
f. April 2020 (or nearest date where records are kept) - Two facilities
g. April 2021 (or nearest date where records are kept) – Two facilities

The cost of maintaining the public toilets at Trafalgar Square by financial year.

Maintenance of the toilet facilities at Trafalgar Square falls under the general maintenance
contract for the wider Square. We do not keep separate costs for maintenance of the toilet
facilities. However, we do have separate cleaning costs as below:
a. 2015-16 - £204,966 (including costs for the installation of pay-to-enter turnstiles)
b. 2016-17 - £150,651
c. 2017-18 - £155,021
d. 2018/19 - £161,222
e. 2019/20 - £162,252
f. 2020/21 - £169,879

The cost of maintaining the public toilets at Thames Barrier Park by financial year.

With regards to Thames Barrier Park the costs for maintain the toilets are part of a much larger maintenance and management contract for Thames Barrier Park as well as other areas. As an estimate the annual cleaning and consumable cost for the last year at Thames Barrier Park was £7,900 excl VAT.
