What will I be doing?

  • The Youth Offending Service is based at Hedley Close, Romford, and offers a range of support to young people, including Youth Offending. Volunteers are needed to facilitate and chair the Community Panels, which support young people and their families throughout their Referral Order.
  • Meeting and greeting young people and their families
  • Chairing and facilitating Youth Offending Service Community Panels
  • Working in partnership with Youth Offending Practitioners

Commitment

  • We are looking for volunteers to support with three panels per month (lasting around three hours)

What else do I need to know?

  • Volunteers are central to the work of the Youth Offending Service. By forming Community Panels, they are supporting young people who have offended to come to terms with their Referral Order, complete it with relevant services in place, and understand the impact of their actions on any victims and the wider community.

Training

  • Four days of certified training will be provided, probably to be run at the weekend (dates are to be arranged). Volunteers will be required to complete the entire training programme before they can progress on to the role.
