What will I be doing?

  • We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Older Tenants Support Team to provide a supportive and confidential telephone befriending service to our older clients. This role will suit empathetic and patient people wanting to put to practice their communication and active listening skills.

  • As part of your role you will maintain regular telephone contact with older tenants to provide friendly conversation about things of general interest to them and to ensure their wellbeing
  • You will provide emotional and practical support to clients under the direction of the Older Tenants Worker as well as raising any concerns regarding their overall wellbeing;
  • You will be required to keep accurate records of any contact with clients.
  • You will raise any concerns regarding the mental, physical and overall wellbeing of older tenants to the Older Tenants Worker

  • As an Older Tenants Telephone Befriender you will help to combat isolation and loneliness,
  • You will help us to promote wellbeing and confidence in our older residents,
  • You will also help us to assess and address older people’s needs so they can continue living independently in their homes.

Commitment

  • We are looking for someone who ideally can dedicate 1-2 days a week with us for at least 6 months. Volunteering days and hours can be negotiated as long as they are compatible with our service operation hours
    Our Telephone Befriending Services operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 10:00am to -4:00pm.

Expenses

  • We reimburse genuine out of pocket travel expenses (London zones 1-6) to and from the place of work and up to £5 for lunch expenses.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
