Volunteer mentor for young refugees

What will I be doing?

• You would support your mentee to gain work experience at one of our London markets, selling sourdough bread every weekend. You would also lead weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions, to help them develop professionally and personally.
• We are looking for an individual who is energetic and passionate about supporting young people. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to inspire and guide a young person, whilst also learning from them.
• You will support them to develop their confidence, communication, widen their network and skills they need to be successful in the workplace.

What impact will this have?

• The Risers Programme aims to help young refugees and those seeking asylum (aged 16 -24) to have a mentor, receive training and gain work experience in one of our Breadwinners' market stalls.
• Another key aim of the programme is to improve young people 's confidence and expand their network during their time with Breadwinners. .
• Although those currently seeking asylum are not allowed to work in the UK, our Risers Programme equips young people with knowledge, information and provides UK work experience. The programme will prepare them for their first job, when they receive their UK work permission.

Commitment

• 2hrs/weekend commitment during 2 months, starting at the end of July.

Expenses

• Reimbursement of volunteer expenses can be discussed.
