What will I be doing?

  • Mentors will be part of the Broadening Horizons Project. They will work with a young person age 10+ for 6 months.
Sessions will be weekly for 2-3 hours. Some sessions may take place at the young person’s home; other sessions may include a visit to a college, university or other relevant location.
  • Mentors need to develop a trusting and supportive relationship with the young person, offering non-judgmental advice and guidance.

Encourage the young person to consider future options and assist them in developing strategies to attain their goals.
Mentor may help with homework, assignments and revision techniques.

  • May be able to organise and accompany young people. where appropriate, to university campuses, employment venues, training fairs.
Ensure that parents/carers are engaged in understanding and sharing aspirations and the pathways to their achievement.

What impact will this have?

  • By being part of WBAF volunteers’ team you will be helping us to have greater reach in making a positive impact on the lives of many vulnerable young people, living in Westminster.
  • Mentors will help the young person to formulate a plan for their education or career goals.
  • Building young person aspirations, boosting confidence and providing additional support with social challenges they might come across.
