Location: Youth First , Volunteers will be allocated an agreed site out of 12 of our sites within the Lewisham borough , Head Office , 185 Brookehowse Road , SE6 3TT (see map)

Travel: Bellingham station. Elfrida School bus stop.

What will I be doing?

  • Developing Maths/English support workshops.
  • Working face to face with children and young people at our sites.
  • Helping young people to complete their Maths or English homework on a 1-1 and or group basis.

What impact will this have?

  • Contribute to improving academic performance in children and young people.
  • Provide needed tuition to young people who would not normally be able to access extra curriculum support.
  • Support exam preparation.

Commitment

  • Commitment: A minimum of 1 session a week for a minimum of 3 months.
  • Volunteer Hours: 1 session will be a minimum of 1 hour 30 mins. Sessions will be agreed and allocated within the days and times below:. Monday - Friday: Between 15:00 – 19:00. .

What else do I need to know?

  • All volunteers will be supported by the incorporation of our Volunteer Support Approaches which include, placement plans, reflections and mid placement reviews.
  • This role provides the opportunity for you to increase your volunteer experience by also volunteering as a Youth and Play worker.

Expenses

  • Travel and lunch expenses reimbursed

    1. In the performance of the voluntary duties e.g. cost of any
    necessary taxi/train travel e.g. to another site

    2. In order to enable the worker to perform their duties e.g. cost of
    lunch during a break in the voluntary work, or expenses to
    cover the cost of travelling to and from the voluntary
    work

    There are limitations to expenses which will be explained during inductions

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required

  • Full Youth First Induction provided.
  • Invited to attended any relevant training provided for employed Youth and Play workers.
