What will I be doing?

  • Take regular computer sales reports and place orders with suppliers accordingly to maintain stocks
  • Select new products as appropriate to the museum. Spot opportunities for increasing sales and gift promotions within the gift shop
  • Unpack and check deliveries for addition to shelves or stock cupboards
  • Enter incoming stock on the computer system
  • Maintain attractive presentation of shelves for optimum sales
  • Help to promote ‘in house’ merchandise

Commitment

  • 4-5 hours per week on either a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, plus a full day in March for stocktake.

Expenses

  • We want to make sure that everyone who wants to can volunteer without being out of pocket. We are happy to reimburse the following (receipts must be provided):

    All volunteers who volunteer for 4 or more hours on site over the lunchtime period (11am-2pm) can claim up to £3.50 in food expenses
    Travel to and from the museum

Training

  • There will be full training provided on how to use the EPOS system.
  • Additionally, the Museum offers comprehensive induction and training to all volunteers in core areas including:

    Visitor Engagement
    Customer Service
    Health & Safety
    Accessibility in Museums
    Child Protection
    Retail Skills (including using the till)
