What will I be doing?

  • Fully engage with the DofE programme; sessions, training, expeditions and feedback. Volunteer as a part of a team with young people, other volunteers and staff.
  • Engage, motivate and inspire young people to complete their DofE Award.
  • Develop positive relationships with young people, treat young people with respect and discretion, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Hike a minimum of 6hrs on the planned route - navigation, map reading and orientation
  • Camp craft- Work together as a team pitch tent and cook with hiking stoves.
  • Commit to attend training on 18 January 2020 and 8-9 February 2020

What impact will this have?

  • Help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to complete Duke of Edinburgh Award free of charge. DofE is a respectable award that not only teaches young people essential life skills, but also counts towards university applications and professional development for young people
  • Help young people develop essential practical and life skills such as team work, problem solving, resilience, active citizenship and improve career and life prospects
  • Help young people build confidence and improve their self esteem
  • create opportunities for young people to experience a project that otherwise might not be able to experience.

Commitment

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award 2020 is a flexible programme taking place over 4 weekends in summer 2020 May- August. Dates TBC
  • Commit to attend training on 18 January 2020 and 8-9 February 2020
