Location: We are based in Orpington and our activities take place across South East London (mainly Bromley and Greenwich), Orpington, BR6 6BQ (see map)

Travel: High Street / Green Street Green bus stop.

What will I be doing?

  • Chaperone children with complex medical needs, disabilities and/or special educational needs to and from our local activity clubs and outings
  • Role responsibilities:
    • Collect children from their homes in our minibus (alongside our
    driver)
    • Help children onto and off of the bus

  • . Support and interact with children during the journey
    • Engage with families before and after the journey and be the
    friendly face of the charity
    • Accompany children home after the activity session in our
    minibus (alongside our driver)
  • • Undertake The Maypole Project initial training
    • Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times
    whilst volunteering

  • Person Specification:
    • Mature and confident person
    • Caring and patient nature
    • Ability to support children independently and with minimal supervision
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to empathise with families in difficult situations
    • Discreet and able to adhere to confidentiality procedures
    • Commitment to equal opportunities and a non-judgmental attitude
    • Some experience supporting children with medical conditions/disabilities/special educational needs would be very welcome

Expenses

  • Reasonable travel expenses on presentation of receipts and in line with our policy

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
