Commitment

  • Befriender roles are designed to work around your availability, so their is ample flexibility in regards to the timing of the session. We would require volunteers to commit to weekly or fortnightly sessions with the elderly residents. Befriender sessions usually last around an hour.

What else do I need to know?

  • Befriending provides our vulnerable tenants with long-term benefits improving their physical and mental health. Could you give one hour a week to visit someone elderly in their home? Play cards or a board game, read the newspaper or a book or just sit and have a chat and a cup of tea? If so, this role may be for you.

Expenses

  • We will cover travel expenses on any day that you volunteer
with us. We will also pay lunch expenses of up to £5 if you
spend more than four hours a day volunteering for Notting
Hill Genesis. Expenses for lunch and travel can be paid
monthly only on production of receipts. We do not want you
to be out of pocket as a result of your volunteering, so please
keep all of your receipts and remember to claim what is due
    to you!

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
