What will I be doing?

  • Offer guests a warm welcome to Grand Junction, and signpost visitors around the building. Chat with visitors and offer information about our What’s On programme, and promote other activities and events at Grand Junction.
  • Update our ‘What’s on' noticeboards and ensure that information leaflets are kept well stocked and displayed for the public. Supervise Exhibitions, making sure everything is switched on, wiping down equipment after use, interacting with visitors in the space.
  • Prepare chairs and tables in the activities studio for community workshops.
  • Keep accurate records of visitor numbers to Grand Junction. Support visitors to complete a visitor experience feedback survey and subscribe to the Grand Junction mailing list.
  • Provide visitors with brief information about the building and its history. Assist with administration tasks.
  • Help to ensure that guests have a safe and enjoyable visit to our community space by monitoring health and safety considerations, including inspecting visitor facilities.

  • Supporting Grand Junction to deliver its mission to create, foster and present an eclectic, collaborative programme of music, arts and performance for young people, families, and adults.
  • Offering visitors a warm welcome, and providing information and assistance to ensure that events run smoothly and are enjoyed by all.
  • Providing opportunities for local people, and helping Grand Junction to grow as a Community Arts Center.

Commitment

  • We ask for a commitment of 3 hours per week on a Monday OR Wednesday (10am - 1pm or 1pm - 4pm) with a level of flexibility.

  • This role is suited to people who:. Enjoy interacting with a diverse range of people. Are clear and confident communicators. Are friendly and welcoming, with good interpersonal skills. Take pride in providing excellent customer service skills. Enjoy working as part of a team, but also thrive when working independently. Want to gain front of house skills and experience in an exciting arts venue.

Training

  • Volunteers will be asked to attend a one hour induction.
  • Front of house and admin training provided during the role.
  • Other training opportunites available as and when needed.
