What will I be doing?
- We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to help engage diverse audiences. This role supports the ORNC by helping to engage individual visitors and groups into our an extraordinary cultural experience, bringing the stories and history of the ORNC to life.

Purpose of volunteer role:
To deliver high standard engaging guided Tours to our visitors, sharing the history of our site, offering them an enjoyable and insightful cultural experience. -
Key responsibilities:
• To lead visitor tours and talks at ORNC to an advertised
and agreed timetable
• To be able to work both as part of a team and on your own
• Respond positively to change and new ideas
• To prepare, present and deliver an exciting and participatory experience to our visitors.
• To attend a series of training sessions to prepare you for the role, and maintain and attend regular ongoing training as part of the role.
• Become familiar with and then follow the ORNC’s Health and Safety Policy at all times
• Be a representative of the ORNC

What impact will this have?
- This role is key in helping us deliver our visitor experience offer, as Tour guide volunteers contribute to our regular guided offer on a daily basis.
- You will engage visitors in an extraordinary cultural experience, stimulate their interest about history through sharing the stories of our Heritage site. The role has a direct impact for the Visitor Experience that the Old Royal Naval College. Staff and volunteers all around the site give to the visit a personalised touch to the visitor experience, making it a great place to visit and to come back to.
- Volunteers are paramount to our organisation, their welcoming attitudes and love for history and knowledge expands and enriches the ways we interact with audiences every day.

Time commitment:
Minimum of 3 hours per week and availability to attend all training dates prior to commencement.

- The Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) is one of London’s most famous riverside landmarks. Sir Christopher Wren’s riverside masterpiece attracts over 1.8 million visitors a year and is in the top 15 visitor attractions in London. After years of meticulous planning and energetic fundraising the Painted Hall is underwent its most comprehensive makeover in its history. Over the last two years, every inch of decorated surface has been lovingly cleaned and conserved. Areas open daily include the Painted Hall, the Chapel and Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre.

As an ORNC volunteer you will receive:
• A full induction, in-house training and support from experienced
heritage professionals
• Regular support and supervision from the Volunteer Manager
• Local discounts in shop and cafes
• Free access to the site attractions
• Travel costs of up to £15 per day will be reimbursed based on Oyster
