What will I be doing?

  • Lewisham Youth Theatre is seeking volunteers interested in theatre costume and set design to support on our upcoming productions in 2019.
  • Your tasks will vary depending on the needs of each project, but will likely include: Creating set, props and costume. Helping the designer to research possible designs.
  • Sourcing and buying props and costume. Helping to get -in set, props and costume into the performance space. Supporting backstage during performances.
  • Would you like to build your skills and experience by taking part in a hands -on Creative volunteer placement?  Are you interested in giving back to your community by volunteering with a local Charity?

  • You will help to nurture and inspire young people's voices, helping them to develop enduring and transferable skills that lead to increased life chances and long term well-being. 
  • Lewisham Youth Theatre (LYT) is a registered Charity based at the Broadway Theatre in Catford which has been delivering free participatory drama and performance projects with young people aged 3 -24 who live or learn in Lewisham since 1987.
  • We nurture and inspire young peoples voices, helping them to develop enduring and transferable skills that lead to increased life chances and long term well -being. We bring young people together from across the Lewisham community to create outstanding theatre in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.

Commitment

  • Week 1: Monday  - Friday, Daytimes. Week 2: Tuesday  - Friday, Daytimes + Saturday Afternoon & Evening.

What else do I need to know?

  • The role will suit students or recent graduates with experience of theatre design and making, and an interest in developing their skills and design portfolios.

Expenses

  • Up to £5 per day for travel and up to £5 per full day for food

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
