First Steps is a Peer Support Service, funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund, where people with lived experience of Homelessness can have the opportunity to support adults and young people with their Health and Wellbeing.

Do you want to support people who are homeless and are trying to develop their social skills and reduce their isolation in a fun and engaging way?
Why not become a befriender to improve the quality of life of socially excluded adults. Meet your befriendee for a couple of hours a week over six months and engage in different social activities together. These activities can include support to courses, going to sport events, the cinema, art exhibitions, or a chat over coffee.
We are looking for energetic and passionate volunteers who are
able to make a difference to the lives of people with mental health
issues. Join our team of befrienders and support people with
mental health issues on their journey of rediscovering their
strengths and aspirations.
As an Outreach Volunteer you will be assisting outreach workers to carry out shifts, adding vital capacity to the team, and enabling us to engage with more rough sleepers that have been referred both via StreetLink and those already known to the team.
