Talk English Hounslow is part of a nationwide project, working with isolated people with very low levels of English to help them improve their language skills, access services and get more involved in the community.
People can learn English for free in a familiar, friendly and supportive local centre such as a school, community centre or place of worship.
Courses start in September or October and end in the following February or March, and are in the school term-time only. Childcare is available at some centres.
The courses are 18 weeks long, with one, two-hour session a week. The courses include visits to civic, leisure and cultural places.
People can get involved in the project in different ways. Our Talk English Courses are taught by volunteer teachers. By volunteering with Talk English you will gain experience of teaching, working as part of a team and volunteering with learners from all over the world. The visits are called Talk English Activities, and are led and supported by Volunteer "Friends".
