What will I be doing?

  • We are looking to recruit volunteers for our Finchley Road Charity Shop.

    The role of the volunteer is to support the manager in the successful running of the Hospice Shop either in St John's Wood or Finchley road.


  • This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your skills and enthusiasm to a shop that will raise funds for free services for all our patients.

    As a volunteer You will be part of the shops dynamic team providing high quality customer service, maintaining a clean and tidy shop and creating a happy and welcoming atmosphere.
  • You will gain skills in customer interactions, learn how to use the till and pricing equipment and be trained in the proper gift aid and donation process.
  • You will be part of a dynamic group of volunteers who make each day a fun and enjoyable experience!
  • The volunteers will be working directly with the shop manager and volunteer coordinator. They will also be working alongside our diverse group of volunteers.

  • The Hospice Shop is a vital source of income for the Hospice with thousands of pounds raised from the sale of items each month.
  • It's a brilliant way to help out your local hospice!
  • A charity shops' primary purpose is to raise money for their parent charities. Alongside that, they bring huge value to their local community, support countless volunteers and boost their local high street.
  • Our hospice supports over 4000 patients and their families each year. We offer support for end of life care, respite, and symptom control in our in-patient unit
  • We also provide support to service users through our day centre, hospice at home team, community nursing, social work and our bereavement team.

Commitment

  • Our charity shops are open 7 days a week.

    We ask that most volunteers can commit to at least one shift a week or more if they wish.
  • Shift times are:
    Morning Shift: 10am – 2pm
    Afternoon Shift: 2pm – 6pm

    However we can be flexible and understand that volunteers do have occasional other commitments they will have to miss a shift

Expenses

  • We can pay for travel expenses with valid receipt and lunch expenses up to £5 if the volunteer completes more than 4 hours of volunteering in one day

Training

  • All new volunteers are given an induction which includes confidentiality policies, evacuation procedures and health and hygiene (safety at work).
  • Your contact for this role will provide you with day to day support, guidance and direction and your staff contact will work with others to ensure you have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience.
