What will I be doing?

  • The Area Coordinator (AC) is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with the gardens, squares and green spaces in a particular geographical area. They are the point of contact between the gardens and the London Parks & Gardens Trust who organise the event.
  • The AC plays a central role in planning and delivering Open Garden Squares Weekend. They will be asked to find new spaces to take part in the event
  • The ACs work closely with the Events Programme Manager and supply information for the guidebook and weekend timetable in good time.
  • Support the gardens themselves during OGSW by visiting as many of them as possible and dealing with any issues arising.

What impact will this have?

  • Our Area Coordinators make all the difference between a good Open Garden Squares Weekend and a brilliant one!
  • By identifying new gardens and sharing information about the work of the London Parks & Gardens Trust with them, ACs will be helping the LPGT to support more of London's open spaces
  • OGSW and the work of the LPGT help to create greater appreciation of London's open spaces amongst a wider public

Commitment

  • You do not need to commit to all of the times listed! This system is not flexible enough to show that you will need to be available to attend occasional evening meetings (about once every 6 weeks from now until the main event one (6 and & June 2020) and a briefing meeting prior to OGSW.

You will also need to be available for the whole of OGSW.
  • You will need to commit to being part of the planning and preparation team for Open Garden Squares Weekend (OGSW) with responsibility for a particular part of London. We are looking for Area Coordinators to cover Hammersmith & Fulham, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Lewisham, Greenwich, Brent and Haringey.

What else do I need to know?

  • You will be based at home and do not need to travel to our offices unless to attend meetings
  • OGSW is a great event which brings a great deal of enjoyment to many people across London and from across the world. Your input will make a large difference to the success of the event.

Expenses

  • The LPGT has an expenses policy covering reasonable expenses

Background checks

  • No background checks are required
