Organisation aims / mission / values
- To support young children in state primary schools who have fallen behind in maths, so that they acquire skills, confidence, and a sense of achievement. Success in this one area can improve children's overall educational and life chances. .
- To recruit and train volunteer tutors to work with children aged six to eight to help them acquire skills, confidence and enjoyment in maths. We also have past and present primary school teachers volunteering with us to train and advise our tutors, so that we can maintain a high quality of support for children.
- To grow to support as many schools and children as possible while retaining quality of delivery and impact. Currently we partner with 26 schools across London supporting over 220 children. We plan to continue to grow in scale over the next few years to support more children.
- To produce a positive environment for our volunteers so that they can enjoy their participation in the charity as well as taking pride in the results they are helping children to achieve.

How we deliver these aims
Our trained volunteer tutors run one-to-one sessions with children in school time but outside the classroom. They use games and and other creative activities to help the children acquire and practice maths skills - and to feel enjoyment and real achievement. These tutors are supported by experienced primary school teachers, also volunteering with us. We have demonstrated high positive impact on the children we work with - as shown in our annual reports (available on our website). In school year 2022-23 we have over 70 In-school Volunteers supporting nearly 220 children in 26 state primary schools across London. We plan over the next few years to continue to grow and to widen our geographical footprint across London so as to help more children. By helping children escape "maths anxiety" we improve their educational and life chances.Who benefits from our work
Children in school years 2 and 3 (six to eight years old) in the state primary schools with which we partner. At the start of the year, teachers select children for us to work with who are behind in maths and should benefit from our one-to-one support. We have no say in the selection of children, but we have identified that almost exactly half are from disadvantaged backgrounds as measured by receipt of Pupil Premium.Volunteer roles
