What will I be doing?

  • Agree the nature and level of support with the mum. This may include accompanying them to local groups, assisting with tasks in the home or signposting to other local services. This may take place in local community venues or the mum's home.
  • Successfully complete a training course for Mindful Mums Volunteer Befrienders. You will be fully supported during this time and on successful completion will be confident in supporting vulnerable women and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Provide some personal information about your own experiences to enable the Project Worker to make an appropriate befriending match.
  • Keep records of any support provided to the assigned befriendee.
  • Remain in regular contact with and gain support from the Project Worker regarding the befriending relationship. Contribute to the development of the service based on your experience as a parent and Volunteer Befriender.
