What will I be doing?

  • As an Independent Visitor you'll be meeting a child or young person every two to three weeks to take part in activities in the community with them.
  • You'll be providing consistent support to a child or young person and by a listening ear.
  • You'll be bringing a caring consistent relationship to a child or young person while having fun and engaging in community activities.

What impact will this have?

  • You'll be providing a child or young person in care with on-going and consistent support.
  • You'll be playing a huge part in encouraging a child or young person to engage with activities in their local community.
  • You'll be providing support to a child or young person in acheiving their future goals.

Commitment

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of 18 months of befriending a child or young person.
  • You'll be meeting with a child or young person every 2 to 3 weeks for around two hours.

What else do I need to know?

  • We're specifically looking for male volunteers children/young people who require the support of a male volunteer.

Expenses

  • Travel expenses will be reimbursed to volunteers. We also provide an allowance for the activities and trips that you'll be doing with the child/young person.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
