What will I be doing?

  • Working face to face with children and young people 1-1- or in groups at one of our 12 sites within the Lewisham borough

  • Providing young people with the opportunity to improve their ability and confidence in their language of study. (German, Spanish or French)
  • Developing, introducing and delivering language support workshops
  • Provide Homework and or GCSE language support

What impact will this have?

  • Contribute to improving academic performance in young people
  • Provide needed tuition to young people who would not normally be able to access extra curriculum support.
  • Support GCSE exam preparation

Commitment

  • Commitment: A minimum of 1 session a week for a minimum of 3 months

  • Volunteer Hours: 1 session will be a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes
    Sessions will be agreed and allocated within the days and times below:
    Monday - Friday: Between 15:00 – 21:00
    Saturday: Between 11:00 – 18:00

What else do I need to know?

  • All volunteers will be supported by the incorporation of our Volunteer Support Approaches which include, placement plans, refections and mid placement reviews.
  • This role provides the opportunity for you to increase your volunteer experience by also volunteering as a Youth and Play worker.

Expenses

  • Travel and lunch expenses reimbursed

    1. In the performance of the voluntary duties e.g. cost of any
    necessary taxi/train travel e.g. to another site

    2. In order to enable the worker to perform their duties e.g. cost of
    lunch during a break in the voluntary work, or expenses to
    cover the cost of travelling to and from the voluntary
    work
    There are limitations to expenses which will be explained during inductions

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required

  • Full Youth First Induction provided
  • Invited to attended any relevant training provided for employed Youth and Play workers.
