Location: Willesden Jewish Cemetery, Beaconsfield Road, London, NW10 2JE (see map)

Travel: Dollis Hill station. Meyrick Road bus stop.

Start date: Ongoing

What will I be doing?

  • Creating a database (excel spreadsheet) in which to catalogue images
  • Identifying images to be catalogued
  • Accurately cataloguing images using the database

What impact will this have?

  • Cataloguing images of Willesden Jewish Cemetery will help preserve the heritage of the site.
  • Making it easier to find images of Willesden Jewish Cemetery will help families and genealogists identify specific graves.
  • Cataloguing will help find suitable images of the site that can then be used for marketing purposes.

Commitment

  • We would suggest the volunteer spend 4 hours per week on image cataloguing. This is a flexible role and the volunteer would be able to choose when was most suitable for them.
  • Once the catalogue is complete the role of the image cataloguer would end, however we have other cataloguing opportunities within the project.

What else do I need to know?

  • We are looking for a volunteer to catalogue photographs belonging to the House of Life at Willesden Jewish Cemetery. Photographs are currently unlabelled and poorly filed, a catalogue needs to be created in order for them to become a useful resource for future marketing and interpretation.
  • We're looking for an independent volunteer who is able to work from home. After an initial interview and induction, the volunteer may not need to travel to the cemetery.

Expenses

  • House of Life at Willesden Jewish Cemetery offers to reimburse every volunteer's travel expenses up to 10 miles.

Background checks

  • No background checks are required
