What will I be doing?

  • The role of the Honorary Counsellors with Women and Girls Network (WGN) is to provide a holistic counselling service for women and girls who have experienced any form of gender based violence. Our aim is that Honorary Counsellors work within the framework and counselling philosophy of WGN.
  • This is a year long training programme which provides a comprehensive introduction to the issues involved in counselling women recovering from experiences of violence.

    Throughout your placement you will have access to accredited training courses and regular clinical supervision.
  • During the training programme you will have access to ongoing training and continuous professional development (CPD) programme.
  • You must be currently undertaking the second year of a counselling diploma or equivalent, and have completed a minimum of 100 client hours prior to starting the placement with us.
  • We require a commitment of 12 months.
    You will be required to commit to one day per week for counselling appointments, and regular supervision.

  • You will be providing individualised therapeutic work from a strengths based perspective.
  • You will be providing a holisitic therapeutic response to working with survivors of gender-based violence

Commitment

  • Commitment of 12 months
    1 day per week for client appointments.
  • Completion of a minimum of 100 client hours prior to placement
