What will I be doing?

  • You will turn up on the doorstep, with a backpack full of books and two little stools and share stories with the children you visit.
  • You will read stories, do the silly voices, handpick the books, and give special recommendations.
  • You will also signpost families to various local services which we think might be of benefit to the family.

Commitment

  • Volunteering with us is a weekly commitment. If that isn't 't feasible for volunteers at the moment, we also have a stand-in volunteer option! They fill in for regular readers when they're away. Stand in volunteers only cover reading sessions as and when they're available and so don't need to make a weekly commitment.
  • In Hammersmith and Fulham, some projects start at 3.45pm and finish at 6.30pm. Others start at 4.30pm -and finish at 7.30pm.We always need stand in volunteers, our projects wouldn't run without them!

Expenses

  • Your travel will be covered for up to £20 each week.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
