What will I be doing?

  • One to one help in pruning, planting, weeding, and watering for approximately 1 hour of gardening.
  • Help facilitate discussion, set up and clear away for tea and cake hour for talking.
  • Our garden group takes trips to Kew Gardens so a willingness to assist on excursions too would be an advantage!.

What impact will this have?

  • Helping adults with learning disabilities and autism learn and improve upon their skills.
  • Help adults with learning disabilities and autism get the benefits of being outdoors and working as a team.
  • Help to decrease social isolation within the community and encourage communication among attendees.

Commitment

  • We asked that our volunteers attend our garden group on a weekly basis, on Thursdays between 14:00pm-16:00pm.
  • We would like our volunteers to join our garden group for 12 weeks minimum.

What else do I need to know?

  • No gardening experience is required!.
  • The recruitment of all volunteer placements adhere to Centre 404’s equal opportunities policy. All volunteers are required to complete a DBS check as our building acts as a centre for vulnerable adults and children.

Expenses

  • Centre 404 pay our volunteers travel expenses within reason.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
