Start date: Ongoing

Age: 7++

What will I be doing?

  • We really want to encourage children and young people to participate in volunteering. As a family you are welcome to bring your children with you when you visit shops to replace the collecting tins. From age 7 children will be registered as volunteers on our database and we will count their volunteer hours. Certificates will be awarded for 10, 25 and 50 hours of volunteering. You will be responsible for your children at all times when you are volunteering and you must volunteer together as a family. Children can only volunteer independently when they are 16 years old.
  • Retrieve existing collection tins from an agreed section of the catchment area local to you, replacing with new tins around every 3 months and returning the full tins to the Hospice
  • Identify opportunities to place new collection tins in your local shops, cafes etc and then commit to collecting them around every 3months. Complete the required paperwork to record their location and details
  • Deliver event and marketing materials (leaflets, posters) to local shops and businesses including Princess Alice shops
  • Share information about local community events that PAH could have a presence at.

What impact will this have?

  • In order to provide the high level of care and support to our patients and their families we rely on our local community to generate approximately 78% of our income through fundraising, retail, donations and legacies.
  • Founded by our local community, fundraising and community support are crucially important to our continued work as a charity
  • Princess Alice Hospice provides free, high quality, specialist end of life care to thousands of people with life limiting illnesses in South West London, Middlesex and a large part of Surrey each year.
