Commitment

  • Weekly Tuesday night commitment. We need volunteers who can turn up every week, and help us plan and deliver a fun and engaging programme, working alongside young people. We operate a COVID risk assessed in-person programme, consisting of small groups of up to 15 young people and adults wearing face-coverings, and with handwashing and other mitigations in place. Only one group of 15 operates indoors with the other outdoors. We take our guidance from the National Youth Agency via Scout Association HQ.
  • We also need help with occasional weekend adventures (typically one weekend in 6). These are flexible but volunteers are expected to pitch in and join at least 4 each year. These are really fun though, and often the reason most of us became volunteer leaders in the first place. All volunteer positions are subject to a DBS check, which we provide free of charge.

What else do I need to know?

  • We operate a COVID risk assessments for all volunteering activities. We take our guidance from the National Youth Agency via Scout Association HQ.
  • Scouting follows National Youth Agency COVID-19 guidelines and will be adjusting our operations through any period of lockdown in response to their advice.

Expenses

  • Out of pocket expenses paid. Most weekend opportunities are free of charge to volunteers.

Travel to and from our HQ in Camberwell on Tuesday evenings is not covered.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
