What will I be doing?

  • Design and run an event in the autumn of 2019. The theme and concept are already broadly defined - Flexible Employment after Parenthood.
  • Use the event to engage the local community, wider stakeholders, and to fundraise.
  • Co-ordinate volunteers to help deliver the event.
  • Be responsible for all logistics, health and safety, promotion, finances, and management of the event.
  • Work with the existing Little Village team to embody the values and ethos of the charity.
  • Make a tangible impact on the work Little Village does with local families in need, bringing local families together to tackle the impact of child poverty.

What impact will this have?

  • The event will raise vital funds to help Little Village continue its work with families struggling on low incomes. In 2019, we will support over 2,500 families with children under 5.
  • The event will explore the impact of working after children, discussing the issues surrounding flexible working practices and the cultural change needed to make this a reality.
  • This is a live issue for many local families; women finding it difficult to return to their professional careers after children in a way that is meaningful and that works on all fronts; women in low income careers who find the cost of childcare prohibits them from working at all.
  • As an employer, Little Village seeks to provide meaningful part-time work; all of our employees are women returning to work after children.
