What will I be doing?

  • Once you have registered your interest in volunteering for the event we will assess all applications based on skills, experience and time available to work and assign you an appropriate role. Please note we cannot guarantee a particular role but will assign where appropriate.
  • The various roles will be to support the operations of the running of the event and your support will be essential so that everything runs smoothly. It is great experience for students studying events management and for any volunteers who have been involved in supporting events in London in the past.
  • Your knowledge of London will be valuable as many participants may never have been to our great city before and they will be full of questions for you so if you like sharing your knowledge then this is a perfect role.
  • Some the roles on offer include - airport meet and greet, hotel hosts, VIP hosts, Accessibility champions, opening ceremony flag team, room monitors, directional at venues, registration helpers, speaker meet and greet, press support, news writers, social media experts, photographers.

What impact will this have?

  • Some participants will have never been to London. Your role is vital in welcoming them, assisting them throughout with any advice on the city or where to go and what is happening when and where during the programme.
  • You will help to showcase London as a great city and a proud host of this prestigious event. Your support of the participants to feel welcome and comfortable will encourage and empower them to make real change in the world as some really big issues are addressed during the event.
  • One Young World is a charity and this summit supports people from all backgrounds and status and your role is vital as a volunteer where funding is spent mainly on bringing participants from all over the world to make noticeable change.

Commitment

  • Ideally we would like volunteers to be able to commit to an 8 hour shift for each day they are available and to offer as many days as possible.

  • If you are interested please let us know and we will send you a link to officially register your details with One Young World so we can assess your suitability.

Expenses

  • We will provide meals during your working hours ONLY.

Training

  • We will provide a pre event briefing of the programme, your role, where to report and who to and what will be expected of you.
  • We will have a dedicated mailbox for any questions as well as an FAQ and will look to hold a pre event briefing for all volunteers so you can meet your fellow champions.
  • For students it is a great opportunity to shadow our onsite event experts alongside your volunteer duties where you will gain invaluable experience in how a major event comes together.
