What will I be doing?

  • Delivering counselling sessions to the clients referred by Circles South East
  • The sessions can be offered on weekly and fortnightly basis and the maximum amount of sessions is 30.
  • Keeping track of the clients' attendance
  • Producing therapy impact reports (every 10 sessions or so)

What impact will this have?

  • Helping survivors of sexual abuse and violence to heal, move on and build a happier, healthier lives.
  • Helping family members to understand, process, heal and be there for survivors.
  • Helping to prevent new instances of sexual violence and abuse from happening.
  • Supporting individuals in their time of need and helping to rebuild their self-esteem and confidence
  • Helping to reduce an impact of sexual trauma on people's life.

Commitment

  • We are looking for volunteer counsellors/ psychotherapists who can offer long-term counselling to our clients
  • The maximum of sessions offered is 30 and could be delivered on weekly or fortnightly basis

What else do I need to know?

  • Volunteer need to hold subject knowledge at the Diploma in counselling level ( students in their last year of studying for DIP or Masters degrees would be considered)
    Have a min. of 70 hours supervised face to face client work.

  • Be willing undergo DBS checks and have a regular supervision with fully qualified supervisor.

    Adhere to BACP code of ethics
  • Hold Professional ( could be Student) membership with BASP, UKCP or equivalent and hold Indemnity Insurance

Expenses

  • We pay for travelling and room booking expenses as well as help with supervision fees.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
