Location: 6-9 Manor Gardens, London, N7 6LA (see map)

Travel: Upper Holloway station. Manor Gardens bus stop.

Start date: 01/10/2019 (ongoing)

What will I be doing?

  • Promote awareness of the support available for unpaid Carers at community venues, including GP surgeries, youth groups.
  • Volunteers focusing on Young Adult Carers will liaise with universities and student unions to identify the best way of getting the message out to student carers within the university.
  • The role would suit someone with an empathetic approach, who is happy to work independently for some of their volunteering time.

What impact will this have?

  • Support can be desperately needed for unpaid carers struggling to juggle their own lives with caring responsibilities. Unpaid carers are people providing unpaid care and support to a friend or family member.
  • Support can include financial help, short breaks, training and access to support groups.
  • Often unpaid Carers won’t necessarily recognise themselves as such; they’ll simply think that they are providing support to a loved one. This is particularly true of Young Adult Carers – 18 to 25 year old.
