What will I be doing?

  • The volunteer will take part in a panel of professionals and present how their humanity or social science degree has affected their career journey and help inspire students studying these subjects.
  • The volunteer will also take part in a speed networking session with a smaller group of students to give them further insight to your career and answer any questions they have.
  • The volunteer will get a chance to share their own experience and learning from studying and working and pass this to students about to making choices for their future.

What impact will this have?

  • The volunteer will help give students from East London an insight to the variety of job opportunities exists,
  • The volunteer will inspire students to pursue new careers.
  • The volunteer will help break the stereotype of what you can do with a degree in humanity and social science.

Commitment

  • Share how your humanity or social science degree has affected your career journey and help inspire students studying these subjects. We are hosting a Humanity Pathway Career Fair for Sixth form students who are studying humanities and social science to show them what careers are available to them.
  • Present your career journey in a Panel of professionals and take part in a Speed Networking session with the students. We want to hear from you if you are in a career related to your degree or if your
    career took you in a different direction. Volunteers for this opportunity will develop public speaking and presentation skills.

Expenses

  • The only costs will be for transport, which we will not be able to reimburse you for. This is your own expense.

Training

  • We will provide you with a brief of the agenda of the day and a template of how you can structure your presentation.
  • We will arrange a pre-call with the volunteers to inform about how the day will run and details on the school.
