Arts and crafts with patients in groups, shadowing professional artists
  • Arts and crafts one-on-one sessions with patients
  • Helping to audit the hospital's extensive art collection
  • Helping the arts team advertise, cultivate our social media presence
  • help to organize craft kits for patients, organizing our supplies and potentially trying to source new donations
  • Helping our artists and musicians gather data and evidence of their amazing work with patients on the ward.

What impact will this have?

  • Help patients to learn new skills - This can give people a real sense of accomplishment even from their hospital beds. And in doing so can aid their recovery as it gets them moving around and engaging with the day more.
  • Help patients to keep themselves occupied in hospital, as long stays especially can result in boredom and loneliness
  • Give patients someone to chat to - as our trust is for serious cardiac and respiratory conditions, we have a lot of long stay patients from all over the country, sometimes far from home and their families. Patients have said the arts team offer them the only non-medical conversation they have had in a long while.
  • Help aid the musicians in the amazing work that they do so they can bring music, singing for breathing techniques and even beatboxing lessons to patients across the hospital
  • In helping with the audit we will be able to promote engagement with it in the hospital and make sure we are utilizing it in the best possible way for patient benefit.
  • In helping, the arts programme will be able to achieve even more and reach all the patients across the trust
