What will I be doing?

  • Provide one -to -one, practical support to our inspirational refugee clients.
  • Help our clients access employment and education and fulfil their potential.
  • Volunteers tailor support for each client, and may be helping to build CVs, search and apply for jobs, and preparing clients for interviews.

  • Breaking Barriers and your role provides unique and innovative support to help refugees into employment and thus rebuild their lives.
  • Our support is open to all refugees who live in London, and we offer a holistic service to support refugees to find meaningful employment that is commensurate with their skills, experience and qualifications.
  • Both you & your clients will become part of an open & inclusive community

Commitment

  • Available to volunteer for 2 hour appointments, on Wednesday, taking place between 10am -5pm (exact appointment times are flexible throughout the day)
  • Commit to 3 -6 months of volunteering regularly (ie. 4 appointments per month)

What else do I need to know?

  • Volunteers must be able to provide their own laptop and be confident in MS Word & email
  • Finally, please note we are always looking for volunteers to support in other areas of the charity, so if you would like to help out but you don't think you would like to become an IAG adviser, please register your interest and tell us more.
  • UK work experience and understanding is essential

Expenses

  • Unfortunately we are unable to cover volunteer expenses, but we do provide tea, coffee and biscuits, along with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Training

  • Training and support provided, related to refugees and employment practices through an Induction and Shadowing appointments
