What will I be doing?

  • South London - supporting blind and vision impaired children and young people to attend sport or social activities and to fully participate in them.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group guiding whilst out in the community on sport or social outings.
  • Provide support that focuses on the needs of the individual and that promotes independence.
  • Encourage and facilitate communication and social interaction between group members.
  • Be responsible for safeguarding and ensuring that equality and diversity is embedded in all activities.

  • Helping blind and vision impaired children and young people to engage in activities they would not be otherwise participating in.
  • Bringing blind and vision impaired children and young people independence and building their confidence.

Commitment

  • Most of our social and sport activities happen over the weekend and this can be either 2 hour or 6 hour activity.
  • But don't worry - you will be always able to volunteer for the activities that suits your availability

Expenses

  • We can reimburse travel expenses for volunteer activities. If you are volunteering for more than 3 hours in one day (and these hours cover meal times), you are eligible to claim meal costs as well.

  • A DBS check is required
