London’s post-16 SEND review

The Mayor recognises that there needs to be a better understanding of the education and training provision available for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 16 and older. That is why City Hall has commissioned a London-wide review into SEND provision for those aged between 16-25.

The review gives an an up-to-date picture of supply and demand of SEND provision and will support the development of a more ambitious approach to delivering education and training to young people with SEND.

About the review

This review was funded by the Mayor of London and the Department for Education in partnership with London’s SEND experts. The Mayor commissioned education specialists Mime to undertake the SEND review.

The review includes further details on:

  • the gap in education and training provision for young Londoners with SEND
  • recommendations on how some of the challenges found in the review can be addressed
