Programme: Outer London Fund

Brentford has received £226,000 from Round One and £1m from Round Two of the Outer London Fund.

This has been matched by nearly £1million from Hounslow Council and extra private sector investment.

The result is an inviting and stimulating town centre that’s more welcoming to people arriving on foot or by bike. A 1km route of public space between Brentford High Street and the Great West Road has been improved by landscaping, new public art and lighting.

An exciting programme of cultural events is also attracting new visitors to the area and boosting the town centre. Important public spaces like the Market Place on the High Street and historic canal-side sheds north of the town centre have been improved too.

The new look Market Place, designed by landscape architect Lynn Kinnear, offers a high quality backdrop for an emerging weekend market and regular community events. It is a fitting stage for renewed enthusiasm in civic and social life at the heart of Brentford.
